Herbert expects Midland to struggle

03 October 2005

Alex Shnaider's Midland bought the Jordan F1 team at the start of this season. Next season the name 'Jordan' will disappear from the circuits after 15 years in Formula 1. Jordan-Midland's sporting relations manager Johnny Herbert thinks 2006 won't be an easy debut season for Midland.

"We all want to have a competitive season next year but we have to remain realistic. Even Toyota and BAR-Honda, with their huge budgets, struggled initially before they could fight at the front," Herbert told Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail.

"There will be hardships ahead, but as a team we can pull together on our strengths and move forward.

"We have a strong plan in place and I'm confident that it's just a matter of executing and getting people to see what this team is all about."
