Stoddart turns to Aussie V8s

03 October 2005

Departing F1 team owner Paul Stoddart will turn to Australia's domestic 'V8 Supercar' series to continue to promote his new Ozjet airline. The blue and black Ozjet logo, seen on Melbourne-born Stoddart's Minardi cars throughout 2005, will now be displayed on the side of the 'Ford Performance Racing' car from this weekend's Bathurst race.

Stoddart, team principal of the Faenza based F1 squad, has sold his back of the grid F1 outfit to energy drink Red Bull mogul Dietrich Mateschitz.

The new V8/Ozjet sponsorship will extend to the final rounds of the 2005 Supercar series. Ford Performance Racing, incidentally, is run by the David Richards-owned Prodrive company. "I did a bit of production saloon racing in Oz in the late 1970s," Paul grinned.
