| Alesi back in Shanghai paddock |
Former grand prix winner and F1 veteran Jean Alesi has admitted he is involved in McLaren's proposed 2007 'b' team. The Frenchman, who today drives in the German DTM category, was again a guest of Ron Dennis' silver camp in Shanghai, strengthening speculation he could be a Johnny Herbert-style 'sporting director' for the outfit to be backed by Direxiv.
''The person behind all this is a Japanese businessman,'' Alesi, 41, told Gazzetta dello Sport. ''I can't say any more, not even under torture. I will be pleased to be back in F1.''
And, although Alex Wurz and McLaren protege Lewis Hamilton are touted for the race drives, Alesi is well connected to countryman Olivier Pla - who drives a Direxiv sponsored car in 'GP2'.
