Karthikeyan understeered off

17 October 2005

Narain Karthikeyan's big accident at the Chinese Grand Prix began when his Jordan understeered on cold tyres and ran wide. The Indian emerged from his wrecked car unscathed and was cleared later by the medial centre of any injury.

"There was a long period of safety car and everyone including me was suffering from understeer on cold front tyres," Karthikeyan said. "I ran wide on the marbles and then onto the artificial grass which made it worse."

Karthikeyan now waits to see what his future holds and whether he can secure a seat on the 2006 F1 grid.
