Red Bull and Minardi did business before

When Dietrich Mateschitz bought the Minardi F1 team a number of weeks ago it wasn't the first time he bought a race team from Paul Stoddart. In 2003 the Austrian wanted to buy himself into a Formula One team and talked with Jordan and Arrows. They weren't interested and thus Mateschitz bought himself Stoddart's F3000 team.

Because Red Bull bought the F3000 team they remained title sponsor at Sauber for another year since they wanted to stay involved in the highest class of autosport.

Vitantonio Liuzzi and Patrick Friesacher raced for Red Bull's F3000 team.
