Reigning European Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx reckons he has a good chance of landing a WilliamsF1 test driver role for the 2006 season. The 29-year-old is currently engaged in a tight battle to defend his title with the last round of the European Touring Car championship this weekend.
"I had an F1 test this season and hopefully I'll have more next year," Priaulx said. "It's looking positive. If I can become the Michael Schumacher of touring cars and be a full-time F1 test driver then I will have done pretty well."
Priaulx admitted that his chances of racing in F1 were slim. "Everyone knows you need money for Formula One and I just don't have that. I've had to fight for results out of whatever I could drive. When I finished in F3 I was ready for F1 but it didn't happen. It's unlikely now, but I've learned never to say never."
