Di Grassi wants Renault-deal
21 November 2005On Sunday he won the Macau Grand Prix, but he already has his sights on a new challenge; to become Renault's F1 test driver. Lucas Di Grassi has been part of the Renault driver Development program and is now ready to move up a step. "I need to prove I can drive F1," he said.
Di Grassi is hoping he can take over Kovalainen's job as Renault test driver in 2006, but doesn't know if Renault wants to keep him. "I still don't know if I am still in the RDD (Renault Driver Development) for next year, so I am waiting for them," he said. "If I do stay in the programme then I won't do F3 any more.
"I think I have proved already that I can win. I was on the podium in the Marlboro Masters, I was on the podium here in Macau last year and I won this year. Now, for them, I need to prove that I can drive F1."
