Melbourne bags award

Melbourne's $20 million formula one grand prix has bagged a major award in Australia. The race at Albert Park, organised by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, was named 'Best Tourism Operator' at the Victorian Tourism Awards.

"We have twice been voted the best grand prix in the world by the F1 teams' association and awarded the best grand prix venue by officials and team owners," said chief executive Tim Bamford.

March's 2005 event was the tenth since the Australian grand prix moved from Adelaide.
