Trulli expected V8 to be worse
29 November 2005Today (Tuesday) Toyota started testing with next years car, fitted with the V8 engine. Jarno Trulli was expecting the new engine to be slow, but after his first laps he was relieved. "I expected it to be worse," he said in Barcelona.
"The engine doesn't vibrate, the engineers did a good job," the Italian said. "For us drivers the ultimate top speed is not the challenge. The lap and quick cornering is. I would say I expected it to be worse. Everything is new on the car, but it was not hard to get used to it. It was easier then we thought it would be. We still have a lot of work to do, but we have a slight idea in which direction we have to go."
Apart from the new car and engine, Trulli also had to get used to the Bridgestone tyres. "The tyres are quite different then the Michelins. But I'm happy we have the car this early. We have all winter to improve it."
