Ferrari blames Badoer crash on second suspension failure
08 December 2005 / Results / PhotosThursday was the second day of testing this week for Ferrari, at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, in Spain. Once again today, the two official test drivers, Luca Badoer and Marc Gene were on track. The team's session was interrupted just before midday after Badoer, at the wheel of an F2005, crashed.
The team released a statement at the end of testing blaming the accident on 'a mechanical failure at the front right corner of the car.' Badoer suffered a similar suspension failure on Wednesday but on that occasion he didn't collide with the barriers.
Badoer was unhurt from today's shunt, but the team decided not to continue with the planned test programme until the cause of the breakage, which occurred in the same way as yesterday's, was identified.
Up until that point, Badoer had done 15 laps, the quickest in a time of 1.18.223. At the wheel of an F2004 M, fitted with a V8 engine, Gene had done one lap less than his team-mate, with a best time of 1.21.121.
