Although Luca Badoer crashed his Ferrari right before lunch he set the fastest time on Thursday at Jerez in Spain. Badoer crashed heavily into the tyre barriers and was taken to the medical centre for a check-up as a precaution. After he was released, Badoer reported being 'shaken but ok'.

At MF1 Racing Jeffrey van Hooydonk made his Formula One debut. The Belgian driver drove the EJ15B with V10 engine, while Tiago Monteiro got into the EJ15C with a V8 engine.

There were numerous red flags today. Apart from Luca Badoer's crash there was also a scary incident at the end of the main straight. Gary Paffett suffered a dramatic engine failure but managed to keep his McLaren out of the barriers. McLaren's day suffered another set back when Alex Wurz crashed heavily in the morning, but was unhurt and resumed duties in the afternoon.

Testing at Jerez continues tomorrow.
