F1 future unclear for Pastorelli

In October Nicky Pastorelli was announced as Midland's test and reserve driver. The Dutchman lost one of his personal sponsors though so he had to tell Midland he was unable to keep his contract. Pastorelli is still searching for a new sponsor but expects Midland to announce his replacement soon.

"I talked to Midland," Pastorelli told F1Racing.net. "Officially I didn't receive a deadline, but we do have to solve my financial problem as soon as possible obviously. We are talking to a number of investors but you never know how it is going to end."

When Pastorelli was told by one of his sponsors that they were unable to support him in 2006 he didn't hesitate a minute and called Colin Kolles to cancel his test with the team at Jerez. While Pastorelli is trying to find a new sponsor Midland won't be sitting still signing up a driver that does have a budget for the team. "I think when someone would knock on Midland's door with the right amount of money he will get the job. It will be difficult for me to gather to the amount of money I need for the job…but we'll just have to wait and see for now."
