Karthikeyan leaning towards Williams

08 January 2006

Narain Karthikeyan is more likely to head to Williams as its second test driver than join the new Super Aguri F1 team, reports from India are claiming. There had been some reports that a conflict of sponsors could keep Karthikeyan from Super Aguri, but now his team is apparently concerned about whether the Japanese team will be able to develop a new car in time.

The Indian PTI news agency quotes sources close to Karthikeyan as saying, "As per information available to us, Super Aguri is lagging behind. They say the car will be raedy for the San Marino Grand Prix but we have our doubts. We don't want a repeat of the 2005 situation where Jordan kept saying the car will be ready, and finally when it came, the improvement was not significant."

Super Aguri will start the season with upgraded old Arrows cars and plans to bring it's own car to the San Marino Grand Prix.
