Barcelona Day 2: Gene fastest

24 January 2006 / Results / Photos

On Tuesday Ferrari's test driver Marc Gene set the fastest time on the clocks. The Spaniard was testing at Circuit de Catalunya with the Ferrari F2004, powered by a V8-engine as his team launched the Ferrari 248 F1 in Mugello.

The weather was dry in Barcelona, which made the track perfect for testing. Six drivers were on the job at the Spanish venue. Jacques Villeneuve was once again quick underway. Just like yesterday the BMW car looks very promising. Villeneuve worked on the set-up of the new car while Heidfeld simulated several starts to gather data. On Wednesday BMW's test driver Robert Kubica will get his first try at BMW.

Robert Doornbos was back in action with Red Bull Racing. The Dutchman was testing the RB2 and worked on the overheating problems Coulthard suffered from last week.
