Testing for Williams will pay in long run - Karthikeyan

06 February 2006

Narain Karthikeyan says that testing for Williams in 2006 in place of racing with another team will pay off in the long run. The Indian says that being a second test driver may not give him the visibility he would have got if he was racing, but working with a top team is bound to pay off after this season.

"Sure I wanted to race, that's what every driver wants to do," Karthikeyan was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India. "But there are limited opportunities in Formula One and to get a step up somewhere is difficult."

"Thanksfully I've got that first step with Williams," he added. "In the short term it might not look good but it's definitely going to benefit me in the long term. I had to think in terms of my career."
