Michael Schumacher was savouring an 'amazing' day after claiming his 85th career victory and becoming the first man to beat Renault this season.
"It's great - what else can you say," Schumacher smiled. "We had an amazing weekend after a lot of work. We made some mistakes in the last race obviously and to come here this weekend and perform how we did - ok there were some moments of struggle - but we were very competitive. There was really a big push from everyone and you can see the result."
Schumacher was untouchable in the first stint and pulled away easily but a problem with his tyres in the second sting let Alonso close right up to his rear wing.
"It started off ok after the first pit stop and then had some trouble, some graining but the car never came back," Schumacher explained. "We need to check exactly what it is. It was quite a bit of a struggle but luckily we know from last year at this circuit overtaking is impossible unless you make a mistake. You study who is behind you and the moments where it could be critical and you prepare for them and make sure you are ok."
