Raikkonen - McLaren struggling for top speed

Raikkonen - McLaren struggling for top speed

10 June 2006 / Results / Photos

Despite a heroic effort in the final moments of qualifying to get his McLaren onto the front row of the grid, Kimi Raikkonen says that his car is still struggling for straight-line top speed compared with his rivals.

"We're losing a bit of top speed in the straight line, but the car is pretty good and I'm very happy with it," Raikkonen said after qualifying. "I think we can go a little faster but I'm very happy with myself to get second place in qualifying."

In fact Raikkonen didn't even feature in the top five fastest cars in any of the speed traps around the circuit.
