Schumi surprised to be third
10 June 2006 / Results / PhotosMichael Schumacher admitted he was surprised to be as much as 0.3s behind Fernando Alonso after the Spaniard stole pole position from the German in the dying moments of qualifying. Schumacher was no doubt also unhappy to see Raikkonen go second and nudge him off the front row.
"I'm not so sure we were so strong - I think we would have expected to be a bit closer in lap time but we'll see tomorrow with fuel loads what the full story is," Schumacher said.
"We haven't tested here before but according to the lap times during the test, something is different here - slower - but it's the same for everyone," he added. "It's a bit tricky to adapt the car to the circuit but we'll have to see what happens tomorrow."
