Raikkonen - McLaren lacks top speed
11 June 2006 / Results / PhotosKimi Raikkonen settled for third place at the British Grand Prix and was left complaining that the McLaren does not have enough top speed down the long straights at Silverstone.
"We were a bit too slow on the straight line to challenge anyone," said Raikkonen. "I was quite close to Fernando after the safety car but couldn't pass him. I was with Michael and we got very close but didn't hit each other so that's ok."
"It's not a bad race but we're not quick enough," he added. "I did the best I could and we finished third which was the maximum we could get today. I lost the rear end a little bit towards the end of the race and Fisichella was very quick at the end, it wasn't too much problem but I'm happy with third place."
