McLaren boss not blaming anyone
03 July 2006 / Results / PhotosMcLaren team boss Ron Dennis was not blaming either of his drivers for the first corner accident which saw both eliminated from the race. Dennis in fact claimed that Button was also involved in the 'chain reaction' of crashes as he ran into the side of Montoya.
"There was chain reaction," Dennis said. "Kimi got a bit squeezed into the first corner and braked a little early but in the circumstances he braked to avoid running into someone and Juan Pablo was keeping an eye on the right because Button was closing on him and beginning to bump him. Then it all started a sequence with Juan Pablo running into the back of Kimi and Button running into the side of Juan Pablo."
"There wasn't much road and it's difficult not to bee too critical of your drivers when they take each other out but you have to be professional," Dennis added. "There were a lot of cars taken out there and there were various collisions. It was just a squeeze on the first corner."
