Yamamoto to replace Montagny at Hockenheim
12 July 2006As announced earlier today Franck Montagny will be racing his last F1 race for Super Aguri at Magny-Cours. On Wednesday evening the team officially announced what everyone already expected; Sakon Yamamoto will be racing for the team starting at the German Grand Prix.
Franck Montagny announced on Wednesday morning he would be racing his last race for the team in front of his home crowd and taking the role of the team's third driver as of the next race at Hockenheim.
And so, after making his first appearance in Formula 1 at Suzuka last year with Jordan Yamamoto will make his race debut in two weeks time at Hockenheim. But for now Yamamoto is looking forward to the French Grand Prix weekend: "The last three Fridays at race weekends with the SAF1 Team have taught me a great deal, but I also hope that I have been able to give important and valuable information back to the team. I know the circuit at Magny-Cours from my F3 driving days and so I am looking forward to driving there again. The team is improving everyday and maintains its good motivation, so I see no reason why we should not have a good weekend in France."
