Williams chief says F1 will miss Montoya

24 July 2006

WilliamsF1 technical director Sam Michael says that F1 will miss Juan Pablo Montoya now that he has left the series for NASCAR. Montoya won four races for Williams in the four years he raced with them and Michael believes that the Colombian had a few more years left in F1 in which to really show how good he is.

"He has a massive amount of talent and I still felt that he had at least another four or five years in F1 to prove that he could win again and I expected him to do that," Michael was quoted as saying by Autosport.

"He had a latin temperament but that was also part of his passion," he added. "That also resulted in some fantastic racing that he did for us, so I don't think he leaves F1 with anything but good memories for Williams."
