Disqualification was an expensive lesson

Column: Disqualification was an expensive lesson

02 August 2006

Welcome to my very first column at F1Racing.net. I will be writing my column here on a regular basis so I hope to bring some interesting inside information here!

The weekend in Hockenheim was a difficult weekend. After the race both Christijan's car and mine were disqualified for having flexible wings. The wings were too flexible, but the thing is that they weren't too flexible a few races ago when we used the same wings. We believe that because we used it too much they were getting too flexible, so completely unintentional.
It is really unfortunate that that caused us to be disqualified. It gives you a bad image and you want to prevent that at all times of course. It has been an expensive lesson. From now on we need to be more careful and keep all the parts that could move a bit more up to date. In Hungary we will have new wings fitted on the car.

The Hungaroring is a track I like. Maybe some call it boring but I think the many corners are quite a challenge really so I am looking forward to the race this weekend. It is always a hard race. Last year we had a good weekend and were able to be a bit closer to our competitors than at most other races. Hopefully we can do the same again this year!
