The German Grand Prix might have been the last we have seen from Jacques Villeneuve in Formula One. BMW's team boss Mario Theissen could not confirm Villeneuve would be back in the car before the end of the season.
BMW said earlier this week Villeneuve will be replaced by BMW's test driver Robert Kubica as the Canadian is still suffering from his crash at Hockenheim. But when asked if Villeneuve would make a return to BMW before the end of the season Theissen said: "I don't know. We have a decision for this race and we will evaluate the situation after this weekend."
"There are no guarantees in life. The intention is to look at the situation after the race, as I said. We don't have a decision on the outstanding races of this season and not on next year either. We are just starting to think about next year and this is an opportunity for us to see how Robert copes with a race situation."
Theissen believes Kubica is ready to become the first Pole to race in Formula 1 and will do well for the team. Theissen said about Kubica: "I think he is prepared, he has proved to be much more mature than you could expect from a 21-year-old guy. He has performed exceptionally at the tests. Despite being very quick, he has almost never gone off. I am very confident he will be up to the game."
