NASCAR champ expects big challenge for JPM

16 August 2006

According to former NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon it is difficult to make any predictions on Montoya's future in the US racing series. Juan Pablo Montoya will join the series next season after being unable to get a solid contract with a team in Formula 1. The Colombian will leave F1 after six seasons.

When asked if it was possible to predict how Montoya will do next year Gordon told the official NASCAR site: "It is impossible. He is a tremendous talent, I have watched him for many years and talent is going to help him. The lack of experience on ovals -- even more so than the big heavy stock cars -- but the fact that on ovals, and then you throw the stock cars in there, it is going to be a challenge."

"And it will take a long time. As soon as he gets comfortable at one track, all of a sudden we go to the next track and it is a totally different feel."
