Massa fastest at Monza
29 August 2006 / Results / PhotosFelipe Massa picked up from where he left of in Turkey two days ago by going fastest on the first day of testing this week at Monza. The Ferrari driver's best lap was 1m22.376s, 0.2s faster than Ferrari tester Luca Badoer and half almost half a second up on Mark Webber's Williams.
It was warm and dry all day at Monza, but slightly overcast with air temperature averaging 26 degrees Centigrade. Most of the teams were focused on testing tyres and also special aero configurations for next week's Italian Grand Prix.
Giancarlo Fisichella was fourth fastest for Renault ahead of Honda's Anthony Davidson and Kovalainen in the second Renault. The day was relatively uneventful - especially for Super Aguri's Sakon Yamamoto who completed only three installation laps due to problems with his car. The team has extended his time in the car until lunch time tomorrow to make up for it.
