Vettel confirmed for Monza

29 August 2006

BMW-Sauber F1 has confirmed Sebastian Vettel will steer the team's third car at Monza again for the Italian Grand Prix. The only 19-year-old German made his Formula 1 debut last weekend in Turkey for the team.

Vettel completed 25 laps in Turkey in Friday's free practice sessions without a single mistake. He even clocked the fastest lap time of the day. BMW Motosport director Mario Theissen was very happy with his new driver's performance: "We are very happy with Sebastian's performance. Therefore, he will also be our Friday test driver in Monza. However, we will wait until after Monza before we make a decision regarding the last three season races."

This week Vettel will be testing at Monza with the team. He will be in the car on Tuesday and Thursday. After the test in Monza he will fly to Zandvoort for his Formula 3 race.
