Monteiro: I will stay at Midland
01 September 2006Midland's Tiago Monteiro revealed to F1Racing.net that he is on the verge of signing a contract to stay at the team for another season and is pleased with how things have gone since Midland took over the name of Jordan this season.
"Everything is under control," said the Portuguese driver.
"My management is finalizing the contracts. It's most definite that I will drive here."
The 30-year-old believes that he will benefit from the continuity - next year will be his third at the Silverstone-based squad - and is enjoying his partnership with Dutch teammate Christijan Albers.
"There is no reason to change teams for me. It's good to go on with the same people. I think my team mate Christijan Albers will stay too, which would be good. We know each other and are pushing each other all year and will do the same in 2007. That's what the team wants."
Monteiro added that the potential sale of the Midland F1 team to Spyker would not scupper the deal.
"Both Alex Schaider and the possible new owners want the same kind of team. My management had discussions with both of them."
