Michael Schumacher has completed the two-day test at Monza and is happy with the progress that he and Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer have made.

No problems were encountered at the Italian circuit, where tyre selection and a suitable balance for next weekend's Grand Prix there were evaluated.

"We're pleased with how the test has gone," said the German.

"The car and the engine were very reliable, Luca Badoer, on Tuesday, and I, on Wednesday and Thursday, drove two full race-weekend distances. I think that we are very well prepared for the race next week here at Monza."

The seven-time world champion sees Ferrari's home Grand Prix at Monza as a prime opportunity to close in on championship rival Fernando Alonso in what might be the 37-year-old's last chance to win a driver's title. Like Alonso, Schumacher believes that tyres hold the key in the Championship chase.

"Obviously we want to look good here at next weekend's race and reduce the gap in the standings. Also the tyres will now have the most potential to influence the outcome of the World Championship. There are still four races and we must apply the pressure," added Schumacher.
