Mixed feelings for Brawn

Mixed feelings for Brawn

11 September 2006

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn has mixed feelings over Michael Schumacher's retirement, now that the decision has been confirmed. Brawn has worked with Schumacher since his days at Benetton and was there when the German won his first title in 1994.

"We knew it was happening and have had time to reflect on it, now it's official it's very sad," Brawn said. "It's good to see Michael leave in such a strong position - I'd have hated to see him sort of fade off into the sunset."

"He's leaving mounting a very strong challenge for the championship," Brawn added. "I'm very sad on the one hand, but happy it's in this way. It's the end of an era. He's a very tough sportsman, but he's a lovely guy."
