Vettel wants to get in GP2

12 September 2006

Things changed quickly for Sebastian Vettel. The young German driver is switching between F1 (driving BMW's third car on Friday) and the F3 Euroseries. What's next is unknown, but a test seat in F1, combined with racing in GP2, could be a good option for him.

"People come by for pictures now I'm driving in F1," Vettel told F1Racing.net. "That's nice. But I don't feel really popular. It's part of the job. Driving in F3 is different and of course a big step back. But you get used to it very easy."

While Vettel is wearing BMW clothing during his F1 activities, in F3 he's representing Red Bull. "BMW gives me the time to learn F1," he explains. "It's very nice to drive F1 and be with the team. I am a Red Bull driver, but I have contact with BMW as well. Nothing have changed. I'm supported by them both. They helped me a lot in my career. BMW gives me a chance to drive in Formula 1, without Red Bull I wouldn't be driving F3."

"Of course there is an opportunity to drive F1 with Red Bull. They have two teams. We have to see. Now the focus is on F3. I hope to drive GP2 next year, it's a good championship and not so far from F1. It would be nice," Vettel concluded.
