Da Matta making good progress

15 September 2006

Former Toyota F1 driver Cristiano da Matta is making good progress as he recovers from a severe head injury after colliding with a deer that ran onto the track while he was participating in a Champ Car test session on 3 August.

"Cristiano has continued to show excellent progress while recovering from his injury," said Champ Car medical director Dr Chris Pinderski. "Early last week, he was transferred to the rehab unit at Theda Clark Medical Center where he is participating in a very intensive rehabilitation regimen designed specifically for patients with significant head injuries."

"Cristiano is looking forward to returning to Miami in the near future and will continue his rehab program there," he added.
