As Michelin pulls out of Formula 1 at the end of the season the fight between the tyre manufacturers will be gone. But Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone is trying to bring in more excitement in the upcoming years through its tyres.
Bridgestone is currently going through various proposals with the FIA to keep the tyres as an interesting factor in the sport. One of the options could be to bring in a special tyre that teams could pick during the race and would only make the car go faster for a specific number of laps. The audience could see which driver would pick the special tyre as the tyre could carry a red label.
Bridgestone couldn't confirm the exact ideas they are discussing with the teams and FIA at the moment but Bridgestone's Hirohide Hamashima did want to say to F1Racing.net: "There are many discussions taking place at this moment about the supply of tyres next year but nothing has been decided yet."
The new rule could be introduced as early as next season or in 2008.
