Piquet fastest at Silverstone
20 September 2006 / Results / PhotosOn the second day of testing Nelson Piquet jr. was the fastest man out on track. In only his second outing for Renault the Brazilian 2007 Renault test driver was just ahead of Renault's race driver for 2007, Heikki Kovalainen.
Lewis Hamilton started his first real F1 test with the McLaren team. On Tuesday he completed only nine laps, but today the young talent covered over 60 laps.
Nelsinho Piquet's second day with the Renault F1 Team saw him continue his acclimatization to the team and the R26. Although his morning endurance work was delayed by mechanical problems, he conducted tyre and set-up development this afternoon as he learned more about the car, and began to fine-tune its handling. He finished the day with an impressive fastest time of 1.19.565, and 73 laps completed.

At Spyker MF1 Racing Italian Ronnie Quintarelli and Frenchman Alexandre Premat made their debut in Formula One. Premat completed over 80 laps while Quintarelli did a few shakedown laps. Premat will be Spyker's third driver in Friday's free practice sessions.
