Williams happy with first Toyota test

22 September 2006

Williams wrapped up a three-day test running the Toyota V8 engine for the first time in the back of an interim FW28B. After a spluttery start on Tuesday when the team worked through teething trouble, it ended the test on Thursday with Alex Wurz managing a strong 97 laps.

"Alex was driving the Toyota-powered interim FW28B car and continued work with the engine and gearbox installation," explained test team manager Mike Condliffe. "We had a very productive day, which included a tyre test in the afternoon."

"Given the number of new components on the car, it's been very positive all in all," he concluded.
