Pedro de la Rosa expected McLaren to replace him with Lewis Hamilton for the Chinese Grand Prix, the Spaniard admitted this week.
"I half expected the team to put Lewis Hamilton in the car for this race," de la Rosa was quoted as saying to Spanish newspaper Marca. "I was seventy per cent sure last week that I wouldn't be here in Shanghai."
"I'm here and I'm very happy about it, I didn't expect to be," he added.
De la Rosa and Hamilton are the two front-runners for the remaining seat at McLaren in 2007.
