Todt questions Renault's two-car block
03 October 2006Ferrari's manager director Jean Todt has questioned Renault's team orders during the Chinese Grand Prix. The Frenchman took note of the move the Renault drivers made while being in front of Michael Schumacher.
As Michael Schumacher closed in on Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso the duo drove next to each other on the straight to block Schumacher's Ferrari. Ferrari now might consider using the same tactics against Renault in the final two races.
"It has been an interesting learning experience for us," said Jean Todt. "We have learned what we can do here. We have learned what we can do inside and we learn from what the others do, so it is always interesting. We have demonstrated we are very tight and hard competitors to fight with as well, so it will be interesting. But I will not allow myself to make a prediction about the final result. It is up to you to judge if they (Renault's tactics) are usual or unusual. We are just taking it into consideration."
With only two races to go the championship is tighter than ever. Michael Schumacher is currently leading the championship, but only because he has won seven races so far and Alonso six. They both scored 116 points so far. In the constructors championship Renault is leading Ferrari with only one point.
