Fuji expects major debut

The Fuji circuit expects to be one of the main events of 2007 when it returns to the F1 calendar after a thirty-year absence. The Toyota-owned circuit is built in the shadow of Mount Fuji and organisers expect some 300,000 to flock to the venue during the weekend next season.

Toyota spent over $150 million renovating the Fuji circuit in the past few years and enlisted the help of track designer Hermann Tilke. It also features one of the longest straights in F1 at 1.475km. 

"A lot of effort has gone into making it a good track for overtaking," Toyota motorsport president John Howett told reporters during a tour of the facility. "It also has a lot of heritage.
