A tearful Fisichella stood on the Suzuka podium after finishing third in today's Japanese Grand Prix. He later revealed that the tears were for his best friend, who had passed away on Thursday.
"It's a fantastic result today for Fernando, myself and the team," Fisichella said. "It wasn't psychologically a good race for me because on Thursday I lost my best friend ever and I'd like to dedicate my third place to him."
"I didn't have a fantastic start and lost a position," he added. "After a few laps I was catching the Toyotas and after that the car balance wasn't too bad. I had a good race and the strategy was good, as were the tyres."
