De la Rosa hopes to race in Brazil

10 October 2006

Pedro de la Rosa had a difficult race at Suzuka on Sunday. The Spaniard, who scored 18 points in his seven races for McLaren, had to start from 13th and finished in 11th - not even close to scoring a point. The Spaniard hopes he can prove himself at Jerez this week to secure his seat for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

On Monday Ron Dennis did not rule out that Lewis Hamilton could make his F1 debut at Interlagos, the final round in the F1 championship. This week McLaren will be testing at Jerez with both De la Rosa and Lewis Hamilton.

De la Rosa hopes he can show the team in Spain that he is the right driver for the team to finish the season with. "My last race wasn't very good," De la Rosa told Spanish newspaper Marca. "I must prove in two days that I'm the right driver. On Wednesday and Thursday I will prepare myself as if I will race in Brazil. Obviously I would like to race there."
