Hill: Don't change your preparations

13 October 2006

It is now ten years ago when Damon Hill claimed the Formula 1 championship title at Suzuka. Back then, 13 October 1996, he battled with his teammate Jacques Villeneuve at Williams-Renault. Hill believes Renault shouldn't change their approach to the final round of the championship this weekend in order to win the title again.

When asked how Renault should approach the final round Hill said: "I wouldn't change a thing. I would go to Brazil determined to win, like at every race. For a team, changing your approach is the surest way of making mistakes."

Hill believes Alonso doesn't need any advise to go to Brazil and win the title. "I wouldn't presume to give him any advice at all! Fernando has demonstrated incredible maturity for such a young man. He knows how to control the race, and doesn't make mistakes. He pushes when he needs to, he can overtake and can manage his lead when he is in front. I am sure he will approach the race in the right way."
