The World Motor Sport Council met in Barcelona on Wednesday and said there was no agreement for an eighteenth race in the 2007 Formula 1 calendar. That means Formula One will most likely not return to Imola next season.
The race at Imola was already left out of the provisional calendar released earlier this year, but it was expected the race would fill up a four week gap between the Bahrain Grand Prix and Spanish Grand Prix.
The FOM demanded that Imola should be upgraded in order to remain on the F1 calendar. The works have started earlier this month but there is still no agreement to organise the San Marino Grand Prix in 2007.
