Corruption scandal at Chinese Grand Prix

Chinese media state that there is a major investigation of corruption in Shanghai. The general manager of Shanghai International Circuit is aiding authorities in a major corruption probe, the state-run newspaper Shanghai Securities News wrote today.

According to the report Yu Zhifei, Shanghai International Circuit's manager, was being questioned in connection with a widening corruption scandal that felled the city's Communist Party chief last month. The allegations also involved "illegal operations" at the track, it said.

Reports furthermore said that one of the investments, the purchase of operating rights for the toll road that goes straight to the track, was partly paid with pension money.
