End of the line for Cosworth

End of the line for Cosworth

18 October 2006

Cosworth looks to have reached the end of the line for its current participation in F1 with this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix. The company will be replaced as Williams' engine supplier next season by Toyota.

"The 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix is likely to be the last race for Cosworth as a Formula One engine supplier," said Simon Corbyn, head of F1 race engineering, Cosworth. "The objective from the outset of the CA2006 programme was to deliver the benchmark new generation V8 Formula One engine. Cosworth believe we achieved that in terms of engine performance, reliability and also engineering support to WilliamsF1."

Cosworth has won 176 races in 39 seasons of Formula One participation.
