The FIA accepted in a statement on Wednesday that Ferrari could supply two teams in 2008 despite the original 2008 regulations stating that a manufacturer could only have one other team using its power units. Ferrari made the request following its commitment to power both Spyker MF1 and one of the Red Bull teams for next year.
The new rule now means that both of these teams will be allowed to carry on their engine partnerships with Ferrari beyond next year if they so wish. The rule change also makes a possible return for Cosworth less likely after its head of race engineering, Simon Corbyn, announced that Brazil would "likely" be the engine suppliers last race.
