Felipe Massa will start his home Grand Prix tomorrow from Pole Position. The Brazilian saved the day for Ferrari where Schumacher seemed to have a gearbox problem. Kimi Raikkonen qualified in second, Fernando Alonso in fourth.

In today's first qualifying knock-out round Tiago Monteiro spun his car and was unable to continue his run. The Portuguese Spyker MF1 driver saw his qualifying session end early. Super Aguri drivers Yamamoto and Sato were eliminated as well as Speed, Albers and Coulthard.

In the second knock-out session WilliamsF1 drivers Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg were out. So were De la Rosa, Button, Doornbos and Liuzzi.

In the final qualifying round the Ferrari's were out first but when the lights went green Michael Schumacher drove out slowly. The gearbox failed on the German, but he was able to make it back to the pitbox. The Ferrari team worked hard to fix the problem but they were unable to send him out on track before the end of the session.

Fernando Alonso (fourth) was unable to get close to pole position in the final round. Felipe Massa dominated the final round and will see Kimi Raikkonen next to him at Sundays's Brazilian Grand Prix grid. Jarno Trulli showed a strong performance. The Toyota driver qualified himself in third position.
