Spanish bank sign €10 million deal with McLaren
31 October 2006The Spanish bank Santander Bank was announced as McLaren's latest sponsor. The bank signed the deal this morning at its office in Madrid, Spain. The news comes just a week after McLaren signed another Spanish sponsor, an insurance company called Mutua Madrileña.
It looks like signing Fernando Alonso brings in a lot of extra options for McLaren in the Spanish market. The interest in Spain has been growing ever since Fernando Alonso won his first world championship last season.
According to the Spanish media the Spanish bank Santander Bank will join the team next year as one of the team's major sponsors. It's been said that the bank will be paying €10 million a year.
Ron Dennis said: "I am delighted to welcome Santander as a sponsor. Having a brand like Santander, with excellent results and a great international presence, joining our sponsor lineup is a positive. Both companies are dynamic and have the ambition to continue growing and innovating. We hope this agreement will bring new successes in the future."
