Big trouble in A1 China

Big trouble in A1 China

10 November 2006

There's been trouble in Beijing this weekend as the city plays host to the third round of the new A1 Grand Prix season. The race is being held on a specially constructed street circuit but practice on Friday was abandoned when it became clear that the cars could not pass through the main hairpin.

The main hairpin at the end of the main straight was too tight for the cars to negotiate and after the corner became blocked with cars in practice, organisers threw out the red flags.

Hasty renovations have been made and the main straight has been significantly shortened and a new, wider hairpin put in place. The A1 teams will get an extra 30-minutes practice on Saturday morning to compensate for the lost time today.
