New father Jacques Villeneuve could still end up racing in the NASCAR Nextel Cup in 2007, according to Roush Racing President Geoff Smuth. In an interview with Speed TV Roush said he could help Villeneuve and his manager Craig Pollock put together a team if they can bring in enough sponsorship to make it happen.
"We're open to the idea and willing to work with them, but the ball's really in their court right now," Smith said. "I've heard in the garage that certain sponsors are being pitched by Craig Pollock so there is something going on."
Roush would provide the engineers and technical side for Vileneuve to form a new team. For the moment the Canadian is spending time at home with his new family and putting the finishing touches to his debut album.
