Nakajima makes F1 debut with Williams

27 November 2006

On Sunday Kazuki Nakajima, WilliamsF1's latest test driver, enjoyed his Formula One debut during the Toyota Motorsports Festival at the Fuji Speedway. Nakajima covered four laps at the wet track.

Speaking about his F1 debut Nakajima told F1Racing.net: "Unfortunately it was raining, but I'm glad that I've completed by first laps in a Formula 1 car. I have learned a bit about the car and did as good as possible. I did spin though, but I hope the fans enjoyed my demonstration run."

Nakajima was honoured to wear the WilliamsF1 outfit. "I can't express how happy I am. I'm honoured to join such a prestigious Formula 1 team," said the 21-year-old.

In 2007 Nakajima will be racing in the GP2 series and be WilliamsF1's test driver. It will be a busy year but the Japanese driver can't wait to get things started. "Although I will test for Williams and race in GP2 I won't give any of them a priority on the other. I will concentrate on the races and work hard to get some good results. I don't know how many times I will be testing with Williams, but there is a chance to drive on Friday in the free practice sessions."

"Next season is going to be a great year and a big change compared to this year. I can't wait and do the best I can," said an enthusiastic Nakajima.
